Advice |
The Employment Service works with businesses across the country
signing up to the Government's New Deal initiative. New Deal brings together employers
and unemployed people. In return, employers are offered a wage subsidy for the
first six months of the job, and a training grant if the new employee is aged
18-24.
New Deal clients have their own 'Personal
Adviser' at their local JobCentre, who offers extra advice to unemployed people,
identifies their skills and assesses their readiness for a job. This ensures
New Deal clients are motivated, employable and right for the job before they
approach employers.
New Deal is an effective way to recruit,
where a lot of the work -- preparing, screening and matching candidates
to vacancies -- is done for you. Your local JobCentre will make sure that
only people whose skills and abilities match your requirements will be
referred to you, and you still make the final decision who to employ.

the young person to an approved qualification for the equivalent of at least
one day per week.

people aged 25 plus receive a subsidy for the first six months of £75 per
